About Silk City Clay
Silk City Clay was founded through a shared vision between Stephanie Haines, founder of the Connecticut Clay Guild, and Pedro Centeno, owner of Junk Pot Studio in West Hartford, CT. After Stephanie began teaching classes at Junk Pot in 2024, the two quickly connected over their passion for pottery, education, and building creative community. What started as a teaching collaboration grew into a partnership centered around bringing accessible, welcoming clay education east of the river.
Rooted in the same community-focused values that define both Connecticut Clay Guild and Junk Pot Studio, Silk City Clay was created to be more than just a pottery studio — it’s a place where people can learn, create, connect, and belong. Through expert instruction, supportive classes, and an inclusive atmosphere, Silk City Clay aims to make the ceramic arts approachable for everyone, from complete beginners to experienced makers.
